Beta Waves = Executive Function

Beta Waves are the Executive Function part of our brain.  That is where our reasoning, alertness and logic live. This is where we think we spend all of our waking hours; functioning and making decisions, working out the ups and downs of daily life.  This is not true.

We pass through different levels of brain waves throughout the day. Usually this is a very slick and easy transition that we never notice. It’s organic and natural; just normal.

But this is a blog about hypnosis, how do wakening brain waves relate to hypnotic state?  This is the beginning of understanding of hypnotic trance.  To understand hypnosis and what it can accomplish, we’re going to look at the different brain wave states and how they relate.

   Beta Waves

Beta Waves  beat at a rhythm of 12.5 and 30 Hz (12.5 to 30 transitions or cycles per second).  At the low end of the scale, we are just wondering or on idle.  A the high end of the scale, we are on high anxiety or excitement.  That is not a very efficient way to think and uses vast amounts of energy.  Persons who are anxious or nervous, expend a lot of their body’s resources for little return.

So, using Hypnosis, we want to help persons running their brain on high octane, to slow it down to a slower frequency.  At the lower frequency of Beta Waves, they will be calmer and more focused.  Their output of energy will be less, so they will have more fuel to do more of the things they like.

One way I can do this with you is to teach you ways to deal with stress throughout your day with different stress relieving tools.

Beta Waves= Executive Function The First One is Anchored Breathing.

I teach it this way:

1)  Rub your thumb and first two fingers together.  This is the Anchor.

2) Next, inhale slowly to a count of four.

3)  Now, hold that breath for a count of four.

4) And release the breath for a count of four.

5) Repeat.

   Why does this work?

The same way your foot comes up when the doctor taps your knee with a hammer.  It’s a reaction your body must respond to.

Breath 4 x 4 x 4 and your body must relax.  Sometimes it takes three breaths.  Sometimes it takes ten breaths. Maybe there are times when it takes even more. No problem. We are breathing anyway.  We could breath this way all day, if it feels good, and there is nothing to stop us.

The only side affect is we will feel a wave of calm throughout the body.

Think about a smoker.  Have you ever heard a smoker say that they quit only to pick up the habit again when they feel stressed?  I have heard that from just about every smoker that’s come to me.  We know smoking cannot calm them because cigarettes have added neurotoxins and sugar and excitotoxins as well as stimulants to the tobacco.  But what does calm them is the way they breathe while smoking; breathing in deeply, holding the breath, then exhaling.

It’s just Anchored Breathing. The problem is they have anchored it to a cigarette instead of rubbing their fingers together.

   Another calming tool is Tapping.

I teach Tapping to most of my clients.  It’s easy to learn and very effective for stress.  I instruct my clients to tap for 60 seconds whenever they use the restroom.   If you reduce your stress, several times a day, you’ll be surprised by the results in your better health and calmer mind.

You can learn more about Tapping here.  Anchored Breathing and Tapping are personal tools for your toolbox in the work against stress and anxiety.

The Problem with Too Much Beta Wave Frequency

[bctt tweet=” But if we function in a higher Beta Wave frequency during most of the day then we will be overly anxious and spinning our mental wheels.” username=”@angie0251″]

To lower our Beta Wave thinking to a more calm and better functioning state, we can utilize Hypnosis to speak to our Subconscious Mind directly.  When you come to me for a Hypnosis Session, I will take you into a Hypnotic State or Trance, and then gently shift your mind to approach this more relaxed state more often.  I am trained to speak to your Subconscious Mind in the way it will interpret safe for it.

There are a Number of Ways to do This, Depending on Your Suggestibility; Introvert or Extrovert.

There is direct suggestion, for the extrovert,  “You give yourself permission to feel calm at home, at work or anywhere you are.”

There are choices, for the introvert, “I don’t which will feel the best to you; the calm way you approach life, the way you look at things from a new perspective that is the many sides to a problem or the way you are able to change action to slow motion when you need that moment to assess.”

I can also use the power of your mind to allow you to change the way you react to stress.  “The shouting your stress uses against you has been turned down to a very, quiet whisper. Let’s go into the Control Room of your mind and turn down dial that controls your stress levels.”

There are many more ways that I can use hypnosis to assist you to function at a more productive Beta Wave level.

  In Conclusion

Today I’ve explained the way your mind functions while in Beta Wave Frequency.  You can see how existing too much at this brain wave level is exhausting and draining.  I’ve taught you two ways to calm yourself to more productive brain wave frequency; Anchored Breathing and Tapping.  I’ve told you how I can suggest to your Subconscious Mind ways to automatically calm you and bring you to more productive levels automatically.

Now, it’s time for you to take action!  You know now how to recognize that you are in Beta level.  Teach yourself how to come out of it so you can feel rested, productive and healthy. Or make an appointment with me to allow Hypnosis into your new calmer state of being.
