Cutting back on smoking could be a good choice for you if have you tried to quit smoking cold turkey with no success. I have helped many smokers quit for good with hypnosis.

But if you would rather quit gradually, I have tips to help you cut back your usage right away.

Here we go…

Cutting back Tip #1 – Cut your cigarettes in half. What? Yes, cut them all in half! The last half of the cigarette tastes worse than the first half. So, cut them in half and only allow yourself to smoke the last half of your smoke. You are smoking less and it tastes worse.

Cutting Back Tip #2 – Only buy the brand of cigarettes that you like least. Again we’re asking you to sacrifice the flavor. Buying the kind you really don’t like encourages you to smoke much less. Just get a funky tasting cigarette and it won’t be so hard to smoke less of them.

Cutting Back Tip #3 – Take a rubberband and wrap it around your pack several times. Make it really inconvenient for you to get a cigarette out of that pack.  If it takes you longer and getting it out is a pain in your butt, Ha!, then you have a couple of seconds to re-think whether you really want it in the first place. You just might decide that it’s not worth the effort.

Cutting Back Tip #4 – Only allow yourself to smoke in the most uncomfortable place in the house. If you smoke outside, go somewhere you really hate to smoke, like the garden shed. Somewhere you are not comfortable. If it’s at work, go far away from the regular smoking crowd. Make it uncomfortable and unpleasant and you will not want to smoke so much.

Cutting Back Tip #5 – Only smoke standing up. Do not allow yourself to sit, lean or prop yourself up against the wall. Again let’s make this uncomfortable for you. After all, you’re trying to cut back so making the experience somewhat unpleasant is going to help you in your decision making.

Ok , so there are five tips to help you cut back. You may be able to think of some more. The plan is to change this from an experience that you like or seems rewarding to something inconvenient and unpleasant. When you can cut back, you are getting very close to quitting!
