My Best 10 Tips to Lose Weight

Weight loss can be a bear so I looked for ten of the most popular weight loss tips around.  This can get you started and help with those times when you just want to chuck it!

Let’s face it; your body and mind are dynamos for eating and they conspire together to eat now, eat more, and eat again.  How come?

What our Subconscious Mind hates is change.  It wants things to stay the same forever and it uses every trick in the book to do so.  When you change your eating patterns, it doesn’t cheer for you, “Hey, that’s awesome! Keep it going!”

No, Subconscious Mind goes, “Oh No-o-o-o! We’re starving! Quick, pull out the Cravings and Hunger Pains and get her eating right now!  And let’s hold some of the food in fat because we might start starving again!”

It doesn’t seem fair.  Well, it isn’t exactly fair in our world of abundant food but this mechanism was given to us to see us through some pretty bleak times in the primitive world.  So, when you want to release weight, we have to be just as tricky.

   Lose Weight Tip #10

Drink four ounces of water every ½ hour.  Set the timer on your phone and just chug it down.  Don’t sip. Drink it all in one big gulp.  Your stomach instantly reacts to having water there and starts sending out the “full” signal to the brain.  Your stomach and Subconscious Mind are happy campers.  Goodbye cravings!

   Lose Weight Tip #9

Chew gum.  Ok, I’m not too crazy about the stuff that’s put into gum.  I’m not a big gum chewer myself but sometimes I just want the goodness of a juiced drink or smoothie but then I miss chewing.  Chewing gum for just a few minutes calms down that primitive and strong urge to chew.  Remember how babies can be soothed with a pacifier?  They have a very strong need to suckle.  And we have a very strong need to chew.  Don’t fight it, have a little chewing break with gum.

   Lose Weight Tip #8

Distract yourself.  You heard me.  Isn’t that what you do to your toddler when they are starting to wind up for a tantrum?  “Oh, look, what’s that?”   You can do it for yourself.  Learn a new hobby.  At my library, they have people that knit together once a week. They invite newbies to come and learn.  Just step out of your comfort zone and try something new.  Even if you don’t think you’ll like it, even if you don’t think you can do it, and even if it seems a little silly, go ahead and learn it for the benefit of your weight loss.  It isn’t going to make you knitter of the year, it’s to distract you while you are making eating changes.  And if it keeps your hands busy, even better.

   Lose Weight Tip #7

Find a five minute exercise break.  Yes, just five minutes.  This five minutes will build strength over time and is super easy to fit in.  Here are a few suggestions; park five minutes away from work and walk the five minutes in going to work and five minutes when leaving for the day; you just did 10 minutes exercise for the day! Brilliant!

Use a five minute commercial break when watching TV, and do bends and stretches for that five minutes.  Maybe add another commercial break and do some jumping jacks and burpees, just sayin’…

   Lose Weight Tip #6

Use the few minutes you do something else and add a physical component.  I do leg lifts while I brush my teeth.  Ok, you should have seen me when I started out a few years ago.  It was hilarious!  I couldn’t get the coordination down.  But I kept at it and those leg muscles are super strong!  It doesn’t cost me extra time but it sure paid off!

I know a few people who have little cycling wheels under their desks at work.  They can move their legs all day or just when they want.  Those little movements really pay off.

   Lose Weight Tip #5

Once a week, eat no meat.  During World War II, people on the home front went meatless once a week to conserve food.  But it is a great idea!  Meat is calorie dense.  Leaving it behind once a week, gives your reduction plan a boost.  It’s also is a good idea to change up your regular eating habits about once a week. Shaking up your schedule gets your metabolism confused and it will respond by using extra calories.  So, shake it up!

   Lose Weight Tip #4

Ok, this one is weird but the weird can work! Use EFT/Tapping each time you use the restroom.  Just go in and tap for sixty seconds.  Tap for one minute.  You can just say, “This stress, this stress…” each time you tap.

You’re wondering, “why in the world would I do that and what does it have to do with weight loss?”  Well, tapping reduces the amount of cortisol in your body and cortisol has a direct correlation with holding onto weight.  When you tap a bit each day, you give your body a break from the cortisol and you’re giving it an opportunity to return to health. You can lose weight in a normal way, free from the hormonal constraints of cortisol.

   Lose Weight Tip #3

Stop weighing yourself!  You heard me, just stop it!  When you’re getting on the scale a couple of times of day, (guilty) you set your mood as either failure or success.  And that mood can send you to eat more, feel like a failure or the opposite; you feel success and wonder if you could eat a bit more and still be successful.  Either way, you can eat more and then get on that more and more train.  You know, that train that stops and eats at every station along the way?

So, stop that.  Take the scales out of the picture and just stick to your eating program.  If you just work your program, trust in it to do its job.  Only weight yourself once a week.  Write down the results and then leave it there for the next week . Let’s stop using our scales as a punishment.

   Lose Weight Tip #2

Increase your fast.  Every night you fast from the time you fall asleep. You burn calories while you sleep. You also restore and renew your body and mind. When you lengthen the fast, you extend that time of replenishment and your weight loss potential.

The way to do it is to stop eating in the evening earlier than you usually do.  Make that fast longer than normal.  You will see the results in the scales.  And not only does it work fast, but you sleep through most of it.  That makes it easy.

My top tip to help you on your weight loss journey is to use Hypnosis.  Yes, I’m a hypnotherapist so I’m going to tell you that my best tip for you is to use hypnosis for your weight loss program.  With hypnosis, you can address those reasons why you feel cravings, you can allow your imagination to influence your physical body and you can overcome mental blocks to changing old habits.

On top of that, hypnosis is the most relaxing state you will ever experience.  So, just listening to your recorded hypnosis session is going to feel like a long, restful nap or a day of vacation.  It’s really wonderful.

My program has two ways that you can achieve your goal.  You can come to me for live, private sessions.  In this case, we meet together either in person or by phone, and we have four intense sessions that includes hypnosis, stress busting techniques that you will use as needed and my own recording for you to use at home between sessions.

The other way to use my program for weight loss is called “Weight Loss Epiphany”.  You can buy the recorded sessions and the accompanying workbook for you to use at home.  You get the same recorded sessions that I send home with my in-person clients.  You can use this on your own.

I think the best results I’ve seen are my in-person clients. I can tailor the hypnosis for your personal point of view that way and the one on one discussions are like nothing you’ve experienced before; part talk, part new facts you’ve probably never heard.  I’m going to share all my knowledge from years of practicing hypnotherapy freely with you.  I’ll hold nothing back.

Your job is to call me directly for the help you need.  We can talk about your journey of weight loss and what you plan to accomplish.  I’ll give you my best ideas and we can set a day to get started. Call me directly (574) 658-4686.

In conclusion, I’ve given you 10 Tips for Losing Weight all of which work and can help you on your way. I told you the very best one and most successful one; hypnosis.

Now, you tell me.  Tell me your best weight loss tip. Tell me what challenges you’ve had along the way.  Tell me what your life would look like if you were at your goal size and shape.

Let’s look to the future together!
