Child in glasses witha book and the title The Surprising Truth about Kid's Brainpower

You may be much smarter than you think.  Last year, scientists at the Salk Institute discovered that the human brain’s computing power is ten times greater than previously thought.

Think about how much brain power it must take for a newborn to take in his surroundings and translate all of that into talking and walking in just a few months!

The new estimate suggests that we have the computing ability and information storage capacity of the entire World Wide Web right between our ears.   With that kind of upper limit, it’s time to believe in ourselves and aim higher.  Here’s how I use these ideas with hypnotherapy to help kids excel.

Helping Kids Apply More Brain Power to Life:

Continue learning.

Make education a lifelong experience.  During hypnotherapy, I talk to kids about what they love and wish they could be later in life.  Even if your daughter will never be a prima ballerina, if she loves ballet right now, you can stimulate a love of learning by allowing her to learn everything about ballet that she can.  She can read about it, watch videos of it, pretend to dance to the Nutcracker, draw pictures about it.  Let her immerse herself in what she loves.  That will prompt a lifetime habit of learning about her life’s interests.

He might like a graphic novel with cars.  Give him free rein to read about what interests him.  The end goal is to encourage reading as a way in life to educate.

Find a hobby.

Turn off the TV and tune into an enriching project that engages your child’s creativity.  In hypnosis for kids, I take them on imaginary journeys doing fantastical activities.  They have fun using their imaginations and they learn a new way to do things all in their imaginations.  But bringing that into their everyday life through a hobby.
A child interested in space could love making rockets.  There are lots of rocket clubs to join.  Even 4H has a rocket category.  A child that likes cooking, can help with family menus and making dishes that are age appropriate.  Many children love music and dance.  Find dance studios or music lessons that help them really move.
Your child can learn through hobbies about stretching her brain power.  This helps all aspects of her life.

Travel around.

Visiting different countries or even a few unfamiliar neighborhoods expands your perspective. Travel helps us learn about other customs and cultures.  Your child can see how other people live, eat and play.  Traveling takes us out of our world and opens a window into possibilities.

Cultivate healthy relationships.

Social interactions play a big role in the quality of your child’s life.  Spend time with your family.  Help your child be social and make friends. You and your child both have huge amounts of computing power in your brain. Your child needs your help to learn to continue to grow and use this computing power.  Our brains are marvelous computers and we only use a fraction of it’s power.  Let’s help your child access her full potential.
